Atatürk National Monument
The monument was raised in 1964 under the direction of sculptor Prof. Hüseyin Gezer’s project by the Antalya Association of Making the Monument of Atatürk. It was built in the Cumhuriyet Meydanı (Republic Square) opposite the former Province of Antalya’s Governor’s Building. The monument with stone clad ferroconcrete base was designed by Tarık Akıltopu, a famous Antalyan architect. The bronze sculpture group on this base depicts Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on a prancing horse amongst the youth, symbolizing the future of the country.
