A message of friendship from Muratpaşa to world cities
Muratpaşa Municipality has placed a panel in Cumhuriyet Square featuring the names of 116 cities from around the world that have participated in the Kaleiçi Old Town Festival.

The festival, held in Kaleiçi, Antalya’s ancient city that has been home to civilizations since the 4th century BCE, aims to connect the historical fabric of Kaleiçi with cities across the globe. The city names on the panel symbolize intercultural friendship and solidarity.

The Kaleiçi Old Town Festival, organized by Muratpaşa Municipality with the goal of creating a solidarity and promotion network among cities that have living ancient quarters like Kaleiçi, will be held for the 9th time this year from October 17-20. As preparations continue, the friendship panel featuring the names of cities that have participated in the festival thus far, based on the decision made at last year’s forum, has now been placed in Cumhuriyet Square. The names of 116 cities from 39 countries across 3 continents on the panel will also serve as a tangible symbol of building bridges between cultures and fostering bonds of friendship. The friendship panel, attracting the attention of both locals and tourists, will emphasize the beauty of diversity and coming together.

Mayor Ümit Uysal commented on the matter: “Our Kaleiçi Old Town Festival is turning 9 this year. We will be holding our festival for the 9th time from October 17-20. The increasing significance of historical and cultural heritage across the world is extremely valuable. In line with the decision we made last year, we are making our cities more visible within our urban landscape. This panel includes all of our friendly cities. Our cities will rise and flourish from the very place where our friendship began.”
