Fascinating procession in a fairytale city
The traditional procession of the Kaleiçi Old Town Festival organized by Antalya Muratpaşa Municipality was the scene of colorful scenes on the streets of the living ancient city. While Kaleiçi accompanied all its guests to the lively songs of the festival band, wooden legs and fire magicians attracted great attention.
The eagerly awaited procession of the Kaleiçi Old Town Festival, which was organized by the Muratpaşa Municipality with the participation of 23 cities from 18 countries this year, was held. The procession gathered at the mirador where the Hıdırlık Tower, which has survived from the 2nd century with a height of 14 meters, is located on the Kaleiçi walls. The procession, which Mayor Ümit Uysal and his wife Ümran Uysal attended, entered the living ancient city of Antalya from Hesapçı Street.

While Kaleiçi accompanied the lively songs of the festival band with all its guests, the wooden legs, fire magicians and festival mascots with their big heads created colorful scenes on the streets of Kaleiçi. The cortege reached Atatürk Street from the historical Hadrian's Gate, one of the most magnificent structures of Kaleiçi, and ended at Cumhuriyet Square.

While the festival excitement was carried from the streets of Kaleiçi to Cumhuriyet Square with the concerts of Madrigal and Feridun Düzağaç, President Uysal said in his speech here, "This geography is a geography of peace. This geography is a geography of brotherhood. This geography is a geography of solidarity." Stating that Turkey is actually like this, Mayor Uysal continued as follows:

“We love our Turkey very much. Is it true? We love our Antalya very much. Is it true? We love living freely very much. We want to look to the future with confidence. We want to trust justice again. We want an organized and developing Turkey. We want to be a country that is integrated with all the peoples and nations of the world, living friendship, brotherhood and peace to the fullest according to the principle of ‘win-win.’ Yes, my young brothers, we will take care of our future ourselves.”

After Mayor Uysal’s speech, the cities participating in the festival greeted the people of Antalya who filled Cumhuriyet Square with their country and Turkish flags.
