Antalya Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal gave the good news that they will organize a Flower Festival in which 20 schools will compete every May starting from next year. Uysal said that they will also start the Sicily-Antalya Street Food Festival.
Mayor Uysal was in Noto, the 'Golden City' on the UNESCO World Heritage List of Sicily, the largest island of the Mediterranean, over the weekend. Uysal participated in the Flower Festival, which has been held for more than 20 years, upon invitation, in Noto, which participated in the International Kaleiçi Old Town Festival organized by Muratpaşa Municipality. In addition to the festival, Mayor Uysal met with delegations including Noto Mayor Corrado Figura.
After the meetings, Mayor Uysal announced that they will bring a new festival to Antalya next year. Uysal said that they will organize the 'Flower Festival' every year in May starting from 2025. Stating that a delegation from Italy will come to Antalya in November for the festival, Mayor Uysal said, “20 high schools will compete in this festival. "Our schools will struggle to create the most beautiful flower pattern in the area we will allocate for them," he said. Mayor Uysal said that the flowers will be grown in the municipality's production facilities.
Uysal gave the good news that a second festival will be the Sicily-Antalya Street Food Festival. He stated that street food is very important throughout the island and that it is possible to encounter this culture in mobile carts and small kiosk-type shops. Underlining that Sicily and Antalya, which share the Mediterranean geography, share a similar culture even though the flavors are different, Uysal said that the Sicily-Antalya Street Food Festival will be a festival centered in Kaleiçi.
