According to the inscriptions found in the niche of the gate of madrasah which was a very important public structure inKaleiciconstructed during the Seljuk period, it was constructed on the order of Jelal ad-DinKaratay. Due to recent constructions the northern and southern wings of the madrasah have been destroyedit was restored in 2006-2007. The monumental portal carries geometric and floral decoration typical of these Seljuk portals, the entrance door being the most important part of the structure.
