Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque

Today, called Kale Kapısı, Kaleiciby the northern entrance of the city is the mosque dating from the Ottoman period. It is thought that thismosque which repaired latterly in the middle of the 19thand 20thcenturieswas constructedin the 17thcentury due to mention by EvliyaÇelebi who was a traveler in 17thcentury. The mosque that has rectangular plan, the main dome sits upon a high drum. There are more three domes over the main entrance of the building. In addition to the main North entrance to the building, there areother entrancesin the east and west facades of the structure. The tile panels on the northern facade of the mosque and within the pointed arched pediments of the exterior windows, it'smimber-pulpit and mihrap-niche carry stalactite-muqarnas within a large pointed arch.This mosque has a single minaret with a balcony constructed at the northwest corner of the building.
