They built three large temples around this lake for Leto, Arte-
mis and Apollo, standing side by side for them. They call it the
Letoon, after this holy city. This is now the city of the goddess
Leto. Thousands of people from all over Lycia visited each year
and made vows on behalf of both her and her children.
Today, the excavations in the city of Letoon, located on the
Antalya-Fethiye border and 5 km north of the ancient city of Pat-
ara, are being carried out under the direction of Assoc. Dr. Er-
doğan Aslan.
